Conflicted
does anyone even give a damn.
or are they just putting an upfront charm?
She can't help wondering the same thing for weeks
Although friends are always by her side,
To whom can she actually trust to confide?
Perhaps everyone,
yet again maybe not even one.
She can't help but wonder,
it may just be better being a loner,
Then she thinks back of the fun times
and she starts to smile.
She's torn between,
happiness and sadness
which will be the side that wins?
A debate starts and her head's in a mess
A conclusion she'll never come to,
Cheers herself by blasting the stereos with beats to dance to
She'll just bite back retorts and tears,
Always being in a dilemma, just isn't for her
Why does she even care about all this?
Can't she just live life as it is?
head on her shoulders and feet firmly on the ground
Maybe she should stop caring so much about people around
All this said and done,
She's sort of on her own
pick herself up, from all the bits and pieces on the ground
get herself together and act like nothings wrong
No use being sad and moody
She takes a deep breath and takes it easy
Drowns herself with her favourite songs
Cause come on, it's just life and life goes on...

Dancing, catchy music, dramatic storylines = A Bollygood time!
What makes me interested in Hindi movies? Well could it be the catchy and sometimes funny synchronised dance moves, or could it be the vivid representation of their culture in the movies produced or how about the beautiful storyline spun by marvellous writers. In fact it is all of these that make me love Bollywood. And as I got older, well I can’t deny the fact that I found most Bollywood actors to be hunky and oh so, tall dark and handsome! *wink*

| John Abraham |
There was a time when I was a child around 5 years old, I would go crazy over Shah Rukh Khan, just because he was so suave in those movies he acted in. I even pestered my mum to get me a cassette of his songs (Yes cassette, there were no CD’s back then... gawd I feel so old!) only to find out later on that it wasn’t him singing all those songs, boy was my little naive heart, broken. My first favourite Hindi movie has got to be “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ oh the fun we would have in school making fun of the dancing and the title. My friends and I will hide behind the wooden pillars in school, slowly peep out from behind it, nod our heads from side to side while singing “kucha kucha hota hai” and we would collapse on the ground laughing hysterically. Also not to forget the melodious chanting of "Tumpah Se Air" (the song 'Tum Pase Aye' in 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai') whenever water is spilled. "Tumpah" in Bahasa Malaysia means "Spill" and "Air" means "Water".
Though years have passed, and the hype of Hindi movies has sort of “left the country” my love and appreciation for Hindi movies hasn’t faltered. In fact I grew to appreciate and enjoy the different stance Hindi movies take on in the world of media. For example, unlike all those common American or English movies, every Hindi movie is a musical with catchy meaningful songs and most of the time brilliant choreography. Dance numbers of Hindi movies has evolved through the years and no longer comprise of just running around, hiding behind trees and rolling down hills, but instead has incorporated hip hop, ballet, and modernised some original ‘bollywood moves’ how international of them. Well well, talk about international standard, that has definitely been achieved by Indian films. Another interesting thing about Hindi movies is that nothing is impossible no matter how ridiculous it might be. Flying cars, Indestructible heroes, karate moves that beats even Shaolin monks, you name it and Bollywood has made it happen!
Furthermore their sense of humour has the tendency to make you laugh till you cry. There’s humour in every genre and you’ll be laughing about something or other may it be crazy antics by possessive mothers, warm loving fathers, best friends who can never do anything right or even something as simple as a facial expression. Need a laugh? I suggest you pick up movies like ‘Golmaal Returns’, ‘Dostana’ or even ‘Kambakkht Ishq’. Besides that, the romance is just wow! The way Bollywood movies are written makes you fall head over heels for the hero and wish you were that lucky beautiful girl in the movie instead of just being a mere spectator. Movies like ‘I Hate Luv Stories’, ‘Jab We Met’ and ‘Pyaar Impossible’ will leave you with many "awww" moments and that fluttery feeling in your stomach. However, don’t underestimate these movies to be just ridiculous, funny or having no ‘substance’. You’d be surprised, try ‘3 idiots’, ‘Aashayein’, ‘Fanaa’, ‘Paa’, ‘Rang De Bansanti and ‘Paathshaala’ there are some scenes that can really leave you in tears, some just leave you inspired and some makes you want to make a change in your lives. That’s another reason I admire Bollywood, they manage to make entertaining movies that grasps the viewers and at the same time incorporates love, culture and some serious issues too.
Now if only Malaysian movies could be the same. Well, we’re getting there, but it’s a painfully slow journey to the top. The glory of Malaysian movies seems to have died with the legends. P.Ramlee, you will always be an inspiration and an example to follow. Don’t get me wrong, we do have some wonderful movies in the modern times like ‘Sepet’ and ‘Papadom’ but most of the movies produced nowadays aren’t even worth watching unless you like watching annoying ‘mak ciks’ (aunts/ old ladies) trying to be young and talking in an exaggerated foreign accent, unfaithful husbands who legally marries 3 wives and unbelievably funny ghosts/ monsters. Gradually we are improving and I do hope we improve more, and who knows one day in the future they’ll be someone blogging (or whatever futuristic social thought-sharing technology) about Malaysian movies and how it touched and became a part of their lives. I’m dreaming of that day to come and if only I can be a part of it *dreamy smile*

It's never too late!
I just love what I've done with the new banner, it took me a while, but it seems I'm now getting better at handling Adobe Photoshop. Haha!! I take no ownership of the worm on the book, but everything else I will definitely take credit. Trust me it isn't as easy as it looks if you're a beginner... Then again it's never too late to learn am I right? Gonna need the skills for my course in college so I need all the practice I can get.
Thus I end this post by saying, I'm sleepy.... Yes nothing special.. just a simple phrase which means my eyes are closing... might be becoming slightly delirious and suffering from non-stop yawning.... It is also 6.44am and I haven't slept a wink. Oh well I guess I should sleep now... As the saying goes, It's never too late.

Should I Be Proud or Stressed Out?
For now however I shall explain to you why my latest post is titled as such. In the newspaper I came across a list of the 18 "excellent" public and private university colleges in the country. These colleges are rated tier 5 (so far no college is rated tier 6 which is the the highest rank) and here's the list in alphabetical order :
1. Curtin University of Technology Sarawak
2. International Islamic University Malaysia
3. International Medical University
4. Management and Science University
5. Monash University Sunway Campus
6. Sunway University College
7. Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus
8. Taylor's University College
9. The University of Nottingham, Malaysia Campus
10. Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia
11. Universiti Kuala Lumpur
12. Universiti Malaya
13. Universiti Multimedia
14. Universiti Putra Malaysia
15. Universiti Sains Malaysia
16. Universiti Teknologi Malaysia
17. Universiti Teknologi Mara
18. Universiti Teknologi Petronas
Note the one highlighted... that's the college I'll be attending, doing a foundation in Mass Communications.
![]() |
| Curtin University of Technology Sarawak Campus |
When I attended the pre-departure briefing last Friday I was told that studying in Curtin will not be easy and I shouldn't expect to pass easily without MUCH effort. The passing mark is high and expectations on the students are higher. Therefore my dilemma... I have always had a problem with studying, may it be revising or doing exercises. My attention span for studying is about as long as the attention span of a year old baby....okay so I'm exaggerating a little. I'd say the longest I can actually focus on studying with no distractions is for just half an hour not more. See my problem??? Hopefully I'll be able to concentrate more as I have the interest and the passion for anything 'mass com'. My future depends on me hitting the books and not to fiddle as Rome burns.
So conclusion.... am I proud or stressed out?
Well as for now I'm proud that I'll soon be attending one of the top tiered colleges in Malaysia! It's a blessing and a golden opportunity and I pray to God that I won't waste this chance of a lifetime. I'll be leaving for college on the 28th of July and Orientation starts on the 2nd of August and I'll only be back home in December for semester break... Ok come to think of it... maybe I am a little stressed out... Eeek HELP!!

Chivalry ISN'T Dead!!
It doesn’t really take much to make a girl feel happy and appreciated. I guess in some ways you can say girls are actually simple creatures. Hah! Who am I kidding, we're the most complex of all God's creations, in my own opinion, I think that sometimes we might not even understand ourselves.... Yes, we are that complex. But one thing that I dare say though, is that every woman/girl appreciates a little bit of chivalry every now and then. It makes us feel nice and it puts a smile on our face, can't really explain why, but it just does.
A few months ago when I was at the bakery with my mom, I saw a young man exiting the shop and there was an old lady who was walking slowly towards the exit. Now this frail looking old lady really had her hands full with her shopping and on top of all that the glass door was quite difficult to open. I expected the boy to hold the door open for her, since he knew she was leaving and he was already standing there anyway, why not spare a few minutes helping her hold the door open. Even if he didn’t have a few minutes to spare, he could have just opened the door wide enough for it to stay open. Instead he pushed the door open, went out and immediately let go of the door which swung back and almost hit the old lady, who luckily backed up in time to avoid getting hit in the face. Since I was just standing there doing nothing, I quickly went up to her and helped open the door for her. She smiled and thanked me. Randomly that incident came to mind and it got me thinking, why can’t men be a little more considerate and nice to women? Is it true that Chivalry is dead?
Thank goodness I can say and I do have proof that it is undoubtedly not dead. It’s just nearing extinction. Yesterday morning I had accompanied my mother to the bank and I was lagging behind as I was replying to a text message, so by the time I reached the door she was already inside. A young man pushed the glass door open just as I was going to go in so I stopped and let him pass. I was expecting him to let go of the door and I was prepared to grab it if it swings back. But the kind and if may I add, good looking (Abigail would at this point say gigglesnort) man just stood there, held the door open for me and gave me a smile and a nod. I thanked him and hurried inside and I was quite surprised and a little flustered by his actions; I mean come on, how often does a guy hold a door open for me? Let me answer that….Very rare and hardly ever happens….
So for all guys who are in a relationship, try being chivalrous once in a while. Hold the door open for her, offer to carry her bag when she’s shopping (it does not make you look gay) and offer her your jacket when it’s cold. She’ll appreciate the gestures and will love you more for it. Don’t believe me? Try asking any girl you know and see what she says about it. Girls tend to envy other girls whose boyfriends treat them like princesses. Don’t get me wrong, you don’t have to pretend to be a perfect gentleman; nobody likes that, if you don’t already know. Just be yourself because there’s nothing worse than a fake. For the guys who are not in a relationship at the moment, there is no harm in being chivalrous too. Just consider it as practise for when you do get a girlfriend. When it all comes down to it, Chivalry is not just about opening doors and helping to carry bags. It's a whole attitude of treating someone with the respect and dignity they deserve. So it shouldn’t be that hard and it shouldn’t be limited to girlfriends and dating….Right?

Interviewers trying to be cool

Just recently, I've been thinking.... why do some interviewers think It's cool or right to tease the interviewee? Well maybe a little teasing is alright but most of the time it just goes too far. For example, just this morning I was tuning in to a radio station to hear my fellow friends on air. I was annoyed by the interviewer who made some jokes that can be considered quite insulting. I mean is it right to say things like, "I know people your size will....", "Oh changing yourself...you mean your clothes?" that's only the few that I can mention right now. However this is not the first time I've heard interviews of this sort. There is a reason for the interview in the first place, it could be for promoting something or for getting to know a person. So why should the interviewee be belittled just because the interviewer wants to act cool or feel almighty (due to whatever reason).
In my opinion, I'd rather hear an informative interview that isn't too serious nor too playful. There should be a balance between the two, keeping the interview light with a few teasing jokes and keeping the insulting comments to a bare minimum. Even if you're the best interviewer in town with the best show on air, I think people will think thrice before agreeing to an interview with you. I mean come on! who on earth do you think you are? Interviewees try not to fear interviews from hell, heck maybe sometimes you just gotta butt in and drag them "high and mighty" interviewers back to earth. For example.....
Interviewer: So (*insert name here*) since we're talking about food, I'm sure you have lots of favourite dishes here in town, I mean look at you *laughs jokingly* do tell us.
Interviewee: Thank you for that biting comment, I didn't know (*insert purpose of interview
here*) had anything to do with my size *says politely and sweetly* well I do have lots of favourites as you just said.......
Question to you that's reading this rambling of mine, would you actually prefer listening to something that is full of crap due to all the insulting comments and jokes or would you listen to something light, entertaining and informative? Oh and comments most welcome as always...

Gone is the King of Pop

Michael Jackson collapsed at a rented home in Los Angeles. Jackson's personal physician attempted to resuscitate him. The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a 911 call and arrived 9 minutes later. Jackson was reportedly not breathing and CPR was performed. Jackson remained in a coma and died shortly after arrival at the UCLA Medical Centre. Jackson was pronounced dead at about 2:26 pm local time and the cause of death is currently believed to be cardiac arrest.
Jackson's death caused an outpouring grief among fans not seen since the death of Elvis Presley and John Lennon two other legends that have gone before him. Fans created a shrine at the old Motown headquarters now the Motown Museum, outside Hitsville U.S.A in Detroit.
A little tidbit about our dear King of Pop:
Michael Joseph Jackson, born August 29, 1958 and is the seventh child of the Jackson family. He debuted in the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of the Jackson 5. He's well known for his ever changing features from year to year and unbeatable dance moves. He popularized the dance moves that we call the moonwalk and the robot.
His songs like "Beat it", "Pretty young thing", "ABC (with the Jackson 5)", "Billie Jean", "Black or white" and "Smooth Criminal". His work and distinctive style has influenced many singers to date. He has 3 children, Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr. (also known as "Prince"), a daughter, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince Michael Jackson II (also known as Blanket). He is the ultimate performer and the world might not see anything like him ever. His legacy shall live on.

Watermark/copyright
This picture was taken with my baby, the Canon 1000D. Note that I did not edit anything. The only thing that is not in the original picture is the "Josey" watermark. Apart from all that, everything is original. All my friends know I suck at major editing, lol. I don't do anything other than crop my pictures and the occasional brightening. Ok more about the picture, it was taken at my Aunt's house in kampung Singgai Daun. I splashed some water on the flower to make it look cool. Honestly I never know what I'm doing when I'm taking a picture. What happens just happens. I can't even remember what I did to get that blurred effect in the background. I am 80% sure that it was sheer luck though. Haha, I don't know... don't ask :P
If you're reading this, whoever you are, lol. Would you mind leaving me a comment about this pic? Tips, if any, would be awesome and really really appreciated. Thanks a million in advance :P

Galaxie, oh dear Galaxie
1. They decreased the size of the mag.
Now why on earth would they do that? seriously their size before was just perfect. It made the mag stand out among all other mags. Now sadly they've changed to the normal boring A4 size; might even be slightly smaller than A4 for all I know. Saddening
2. The posters for the coming out issue ain't that great.
The posters featured in the new issue is not only smaller in size its also not that nice. Have you seen the posters featured before? Well, they were awesome, not so much in this issue though.
3. This isn't so important but, CHRIS BROWN is on the cover!!!
I mean excuse me! Hello.... anyone got a memo that he's a women beater?? Ok I admit that i know nothing about running a mag, but seriously.... I thought that only people you admire and respect should grace the cover of magazines. For crying out loud why is Chris Brown on the cover? if you want to make the theme CB and Rihanna then put Rihanna on the cover instead of CB. Instead CB is gracing the cover and Rihanna is a mere speck in the bottom right corner.
4. Where did the lyrics section go to??
Ok what happened to my favourite part of this mag? I used to look forward to the lyrics section in this mag all the time. I'm very disappointed to see that its not there anymore. I hope that this is only a major glitch and that the lyrics section will be back. Honestly why kill one of the best parts of the mag?
5. The increase in price.
Whoa I got ready the usual RM 4.50 to buy the new issue. When I saw it in the newsstands I grabbed it straight away, noting the size difference though. When I was gonna pay the guy looked at me and said "RM 7.00 dah naik harga dah" I was like wuuuutttt.... Whoa it went up a startling RM2.50. Seriously what happened to it being the cheapest and best magazine in the whole of Malaysia. Ok maybe they need to cover up for the whole changing their look thing, but seriously RM7.00 has it ever occurred to them that most students and adults alike love them because they're cheaper and way better than other mags. I'm one of those people but now I'm thinking twice.
That's all I can think of right now. The whole change is quite a disappointment. Saddening enough to make me hope and pray that they make slight minor changes to their whole "new look" GALAXIE what on earth have you become?

What has the world come to??
Ok firstly, the bombings. Ok... for all those who know me well, you know that I really do not enjoy reading the newspaper. Why? ok that I do not know... well, I just don't nuff said. So I'm saying firstly, sorry for any mistakes that I might make and that I'm not blaming anyone, judging anyone, nor do I take credit for anything I say....what I'm saying is mainly for entertainment (mine) purposes only.
Well... there's a club notice board in school that has pictures of the victims of the recent tradegy in erm... India? Or was it Sri Lanka? Okay... so I do not know the facts, kick me. What I do know is... why would someone or anyone for that matter do something like that? The kids burried from neck to toe when they're still alive, men and women killed brutally, the scars, blood, cuts, bruises. Oh the horror when I paused for a second to look at all the pictures. I couldn't even bring myself to read the captions. Call me emo or whatever you want, but I felt sad and questions kept going through my head. Why them? Were they guilty of anything? Did it hurt when...? Do they deserve this? Does anyone deserve this? Shouldn't I be grateful it wasn't me or my family and friends? All these questions.... the cruel world, Is this the new generation? Do I want to live in this kind of generation?
Recently, I heard that there was a tsunami in Indonesia. I was like omg, seriously? That's so near to us and I didn't even know about it till someone told me. That's when I thought, okay... now I really got to take interest and read the papers more. I wonder how bad it was. Hmmm... Besides that, the bushfires in Australia and the snowing in London. Gosh London had the worst snow in years. My uncle's car got snowed in and that's like crazy.
The one news, that I do know about is the one about Rihanna. OMG, who would've guessed. Rihanna abused by Chris Brown thats like Malaysia snowing... Oh so we thought. I was really shocked when I heard bout what happened to Rihanna. I'm on her side no matter what. Thats cause, no matter what she did thats wrong or whatever,a guy should never hit a girl. That's like the golden rule of a relationship. I mean have u seen her pics after the brutal beating he gave her. I'd like to post it on here, but I dunno if I'm allowed to, legally I mean. Yeah take a look at the pics and you'll be like what the heck? Her beautiful face ain't that beautiful no more.
On a lighter note, there's an awesomely hilarious video by nigahiga on youtube. Seriously if you like comedy you really gotta check out nigahiga, Decimal brothers and Venetian princess on youtube. They are hilariously awesome. Back to the point, the video is suposedly on the real reason why Chris and Rihanna fought but really it isn't, it's just a funny video.
I'm all against women beating and violence of any kind. People, guns and beatings are never a solution to anything. They only cause more harm and nothing good comes out of it.

Doulos Mural Day
Lining up for registration
http://www.mvdoulos.org
Well, my whole group thought that we were going to be painting on the ship. I thought that would be impossible but then again anything can happen. So we made our way onboard and went in search of the registration area. When we didn't find it we figured that the registration would be back on the port. So we went back down the steps. Whoah don't get me started on those steps, 10 times or more a day and I'd be slim in no time, hahaha.... no seriously they're killer steps. We found the registration area and since they were still packing the goody bags they told us to walk around first. So Beth, Dani and I headed for the shade. Thats when I noticed that the white painted plywood boards along the entrance was our canvas, 2 boards for each team.
Our "canvas" of white behind us
just after we finished painting
Oh Bujang, we're so proud of you
Us posing next to Bujang
Hopefully this isn't the end of the organisation but just the end of the ship. Doulos is retiring in 2010 and I hope that there will be another vessel that will carry on the good work of Doulos.

STS's Photography Club's 1st Annual Dinner.
Fatin, her cousin and friend jumping when the dinner ended
Apart for the wedding next door being so rowdy, with their yamseng. Shessh seriously, halfway through Mdm. Mary John's speech they started with the yamseng. It was quite funny though, because they were so loud and MJ looked shocked for a while. We can't help but laugh. Besides that, the 'Photographer of the night' contest kept the teachers and us entertained. Here's some of the contestants:
Neways, The dinner went splendidly and I'm really grateful to everyone who helped make it awesome. True friends is the best gift anyone can ask for.

Bring on the music!!!!
Well this is her song "Tell me something I don't know" it has a catchy beat to it. It is also the soundtrack to her new movie "Another Cinderella Story". Which I just bought and yeap, can't wait to watch.
Apparently, it's supposed to be a musical version of Hillary Duff's "A Cinderella Story" a few years back. Plus, it also stars Drew Seeley as a talented singer who falls for Selena. Drew Seeley, unknown to us Malaysian *I think* Is from the High School Musical Concert. Note this people.... the voice of TROY (Zac Efron) and the voice of Troy SINGING that made us swoon is actually DREW SEELEY. Well, well, who knew.... He's (Zac Efron) seems like the only guy that didn't sing in the first movie. Well at least he sang in the sequel right?? Besides the point, Drew is really good looking and a very talented singer and songwriter *did you know he co-wrote "get'cha head in the game"*, it's really great that he got a leading role in 'Another Cinderella Story'. Well, here's pictures of Drew and Selena:
I must've gone Disney crazy lately, not only have I gone bonkers over the JoBros and Demi Lovato and Selena Gomez, I went out and got two magazines on all the latest tween stars. This to my surprise includes the singers of my next favourite song 'Lost', the band Menudo. Right, if one were to google Menudo, one would find out, that it's actually a renewed band. Remember Ricky Martin?? Yeah, before he was all that.... he was singing in the band Menudo. After that Menudo flopped and wasn't heard of again. That is until now.... Menudo is back and I'm telling you it's gonna be a good comeback. Their Bandemonium Tour is already a huge success. And why shouldn't it be, with a single like Lost, and their amazing voice and good looks, they'll have girls swooning at their every word *ehem ehem*. Well there's 5 of them in Menudo. Chris,Monti,Jose and Emmanuel. In my opinion, Jose and Emmanuel are the cutest, but that's just me, hahahaha.... I'm too lazy to post up the video so go check it out yourself.
Stress makes the mind go whack!
Right, lets start with Chemistry. I'm lucky if i even get a good failing mark on this test. The reason.... I don't understand a single thing. Yeah uhuh, no one to blame but myself I guess. BM, yeah as I posted before, I'm terrible at it and it gets worse. My class' BM teacher, the darling, said she's cutting our marks if we answer two questions on the same page. Uhuh, yeah it's my fault as she said "Kamu orang tak dengar cakap saya, padan muka awak". yeah in English... "It's your fault for not listening to me, serves you right" So yippedy doo ain't that swell. So far, I'm not confident in any of my subjects. And to think I'm in form 4 and supposed to be studying hard and what not, tsk tsk tsk.
The only highlight about today's exam was the english paper. It was fun, fun, fun. Why? Cause the questions were so general. "Health, my dream house, start a story with...." and all that jazz. Hmmm.... obviously I picked something that I can spin my on web on, so to speak. A topic I could make my own, no strings and borders to follow. The topic was, My Dream House. Maybe i'll type it out and post it sometime, maybe not. It's about my ridiculously awesome "dream" house. as in you can only dream about it, unless you married Brad Pitt or one of the Jonas Brothers, hahaha... Kevin *swoons*
Besides that, Efariza, a few others and I are supposed to come up with a totally fabulous dinner plan for the Photography and videography Club. Oh, we did, that was until hardly anyone signed up. Yeah dilemma much. Reasons given were, owh it's too near SPM, owh it's right after exams. Well my answer, exactly, AFTER exams and it's not that close to SPM. Just one night to take a load off and to have a little fun. Support us form 4's who are trying so hard to put this dinner together. That's all we're asking for. But nooooooo.... we had to go round asking our friends, who are not members to come and support us. We also opened the, what once was farewell dinner, for all STS students. Ahhhhh..... the stress the stress. The best thing is.... we have to deal with the dinner and our exams YAY!!! *note the sarcasm* I just pray and hope things will turn out well on the day after all our hard planning.
Well I feel much better now, so that'll be all for my venting post today. hahahaha... muahahaha...blaha blaha... see I can't stop laughing all of a sudden, the effects stress has on you. That summary I had to do for English paper 1, the schizophrenia, depression and substance abuse. I think after this I might turn out to be all three. hahahahah.......
