Interviewers trying to be cool

Just recently, I've been thinking.... why do some interviewers think It's cool or right to tease the interviewee? Well maybe a little teasing is alright but most of the time it just goes too far. For example, just this morning I was tuning in to a radio station to hear my fellow friends on air. I was annoyed by the interviewer who made some jokes that can be considered quite insulting. I mean is it right to say things like, "I know people your size will....", "Oh changing yourself...you mean your clothes?" that's only the few that I can mention right now. However this is not the first time I've heard interviews of this sort. There is a reason for the interview in the first place, it could be for promoting something or for getting to know a person. So why should the interviewee be belittled just because the interviewer wants to act cool or feel almighty (due to whatever reason).

In my opinion, I'd rather hear an informative interview that isn't too serious nor too playful. There should be a balance between the two, keeping the interview light with a few teasing jokes and keeping the insulting comments to a bare minimum. Even if you're the best interviewer in town with the best show on air, I think people will think thrice before agreeing to an interview with you. I mean come on! who on earth do you think you are? Interviewees try not to fear interviews from hell, heck maybe sometimes you just gotta butt in and drag them "high and mighty" interviewers back to earth. For example.....

Interviewer: So (*insert name here*) since we're talking about food, I'm sure you have lots of favourite dishes here in town, I mean look at you *laughs jokingly* do tell us.
Interviewee: Thank you for that biting comment, I didn't know (*insert purpose of interview
here*) had anything to do with my size *says politely and sweetly* well I do have lots of favourites as you just said.......

Question to you that's reading this rambling of mine, would you actually prefer listening to something that is full of crap due to all the insulting comments and jokes or would you listen to something light, entertaining and informative? Oh and comments most welcome as always...
